Network II: International Colloquium on the Circulation of Ideas, Concepts, Works and Other Things

16–18 September 2026 | İzmir | Hybrid Conference

Following the International Conference on the Circulation of Ideas, Concepts, Works, and Other Things, held on 10–12 October 2022, Network 2 seeks to continue and expand the interdisciplinary dialogue initiated by the first meeting.

The circulation of ideas, goods, people, texts and knowledge has long been a subject of scholarly interest across the humanities and social sciences. Over the past decades, this field of inquiry has grown significantly, generating a wide range of studies concerned with the processes, conditions and implications of circulation across cultural, linguistic, spatial, institutional and digital contexts. Questions concerning how concepts, works and forms of knowledge move; how they are exchanged, transferred, translated, adapted and transformed; and how such movements shape meaning and value remain central to contemporary research.

To be held at Ege University, İzmir, on 16–18 September 2026, Network II aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of circulation as a complex and multidimensional phenomenon. The conference invites contributions from scholars working in sociology, economics, cultural studies, literary studies, Translation Studies, history, media studies and related disciplines.

Particular attention will be given to recent discussions in Translation Studies, where circulation has become an important framework for examining the movement of texts, discourses, cultural products, and knowledge across languages, cultures and media. The conference also welcomes papers addressing digital circulation, with a focus on the ways in which ideas, texts and cultural forms are produced, disseminated, mediated, and transformed in digital environments.

Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         Circulation of goods

·         Circulation of people

·         Circulation of ideas

·         Circulation of knowledge

·         Digital circulation

·         Translation and cultural transfer

·         Mobility of texts, concepts and discourses across borders

·         Agents, institutions and networks of circulation

·         Circulation in media and platform environments

·         Processes of adaptation, transformation and recontextualization

·         Interdisciplinary approaches to circulation and exchange

Abstracts of approximately 300 words, together with the title of the paper, institutional affiliation, and a short biographical note, should be submitted by 15 June 2026 to networkege2026@gmail.com
